Both Nooran and Jugga love each other, a love, without the frills, yet very much present, Nooran hopes Jugga will be somehow home when the muslims of the village are asked to evacuate, and when Jugga returns much later, he will first hope that Nooran would be hiding someplace, or she would have atleast come to see his mother before leaving. He also knows there’s a time line to everything. Jugga is a self-assured reserved man, he knows what people think of him, and he makes no qualms about it. Jugga would go to prison just on plain suspicion, as e always does. He’d rather not tell a soul he was with her, the night the shooting of the zamindar happens. You’d think she is just another girl for him, by the way he makes jokes about women in general, but when Malli makes a joke about Nooran he beats him to pulp, all while sitting behind the bars. But that would still not stop her from sneaking out to see him. She will not care how the neighbors gossip, or what people say of him everywhere in the village, she’d tease him that she will never be back, they all call him a “badmash”, yes. A few moments later, she will bear the deadweight of an exhausted man on her, and even though she resists, she will want it. He will open her salwar and fill her up with his lustful manhood. When he sees her, he is gentle, caressing her breasts and making her lay with him, but he will eventually get what he wants from her. The first scene describes him leaving his house to see her, it is the wee hours of the day. In the first few pages of Train to Pakistan by Khuswant Singh, Jugga has an ongoing affair with Nooran, he is a sikh and she is a musalmani, he gets her to come by the riverside every morning right when the train passes by, so she can easily sneak out of her home.

They know what kind of girl fits where, well because honestly they have been around. But it is truly the bad ones who have the eye for a good girl. The good ones are gullible, they fall for bad girls, girls who cheat on them. They say bad boys have a good brave heart, and they know more right from wrong than the good ones do. When a bad boy falls in love with you, he always sees it thru. There is just something when a bad boy seeks you out, singles you out and makes love to you, and then swears by it. And mind you, we never do it out of choice. And we don’t do it to be necessarily Nooran. Our good friends frown on us, as and when we fall for the bad boys-in fiction or in life, but you see to be the Nooran of Jugga is enticing. But when I start this book, I know instantly, I can and I will put all my faith in him. I am going to vouch for him.Īlthough with other better characters such as the self-righteous Iqbal, or even the lambodar. As I start reading Train to Pakistan, I find that I am instantly attracted to Jugga, not just because he is a tall muscular man, or he is a brooding man, the bad guy, labelled “badmash number 10”.
